You don’t have plans yet? Then take the opportunity to pamper yourself with one (or more) of these self-care rituals.
Do meditation in the morning
According to Ayurveda, the best time to meditate is in the morning because our consciousness is at its purest at that time. Meditation is of course a good idea anytime, but it’s also useful in the morning for the rest of your day. The head is clear, the mind is sharp, and you are all ready for a new day full of challenges and experiences. While such morning meditation can sometimes be short during the week, the weekend provides the perfect opportunity to really take the time at it. Do you find it difficult to meditate on your own? In Headspace you will find different meditations for different purposes. It’s a very easy way to start meditating.
can not be reached
Do you remember the last time you were completely out of reach? No phone, no email, just you and all the possibilities of the next day. Mostly not. Devices, machines and the Internet dominate our lives today. Now this is not necessarily a disaster: technology has done us a lot of good. However, sometimes it can be a good idea to take a break not connectedJust to balance them out a bit. Allow yourself to be unreachable and turn off your phone for the weekend (or for a day, if that’s not possible for two).
go to nature
Sand between your toes, the leaves crackle under your feet and the fresh air in your nose. Not only seeing nature, but also truly feeling it and consciously enjoying it, connects you to your essence in a way technology could never do. So get out there! Take a walk on the beach or go on an expedition in the woods.
Move
Physical exercise provides a good balance between mind and body. It doesn’t even matter what exactly you do. Do you like yoga? Visit your favorite teacher for an hour or discover a new yoga school. Are you a fan of Pilates? same. Or go for an hour spinning and lifting weights at the gym or walk for an hour. Whatever the case, you are sure to feel much better afterwards than before.
Erase all your frustrations
A bad review at work, an annoying comment from your partner or just an annoying cyclist this morning. There are a lot of things that can bother you and affect your mood. It can help you write off your frustrations and burn paper afterward. Especially on the weekends you have plenty of time to get started with it. And you can bet it will be a relief.
Make an appointment with yourself
This can be nice weather, especially for parents who have a busy weekend program (because: kids). Agree that you both will have an hour of “guaranteed free time” this weekend. Spend that hour doing something that makes you happy on your own. Read a book, visit an exhibition or museum, take a good shower and rub yourself with a gentle body lotion: everything is possible and everything is allowed.
Do a big clean up (on social media)
If you are like everyone else in the world, you have a love and hate relationship with social media. Sometimes it gives you a lot of inspiration, or beautiful (online) encounters with like-minded people. Other times it makes you insecure and gloomy and you start to doubt whether you’ve handled all of it so cleverly in your life. So use this weekend to do a big social media cleanup. Unfollow/unfriend people who post things that make you sad or insecure, so you end up with cute feeds with the people you love and posts that make you happy.
