A look back on Facebook
Oof. Looking at my top posts from Instagram is both bittersweet. That was my first post about Father’s Day and that post tore me apart and broke my heart. My conception was the result of sexual assault and I never knew my biological father. Growing up, my mom gave me a vague story of how my dad was someone I dated briefly. She was 18 and he was in his mid-40s. She gave me his name when I was a teenager. I wrote to him, asked for his picture, and gave him my phone number. A year later I got from him a Christmas card with two photos. A few years after that, I found out via Google that he had died. After my mother died, I found out how I was conceived. (Something I’ve suspected for a really long time)
So Father’s Day is difficult for me for many reasons.
I created this post (I haven’t shared my story, nor have I publicly shared it yet). I’ve been gutted. There have been messages and comments telling me how awful I was to post a post that doesn’t celebrate fathers. I got called because my Mom’s Day post was a lot different (and more positive). People were upset with me for not including parents who died. I received names, I received threats, I was told that I had problems with my parents, that I was pathetic. You can see some of them here. I had to turn off the comments and give my phone to my partner because I can no longer accept it. Then I took a month-long break from social media.
Sorry to delve into that. This was supposed to be a fun post, but seeing that as my #1 post this year really had some feeling back and forth that I wasn’t ready for. I’m so glad so many people loved, shared, and needed him that day but there’s the other side of him to me. to the happier things, okay?

Finally, a look back at my life in 2021
Do you want to go back to your year?

Self-care yearbook it is now in my shop And on Etsy! I created the Self-Care Yearbook to look at all the fun things that happened this year. Most TV shows worth watching, the character you’ve identified with the most adorable fictional couple, the book you’ve stayed up to the end, your year-old album, the song you’ve played over 100 times — just so many things that focus on good things.
It’s also kid friendly so it will be a fun way for you and your whole family to remember the fun you had this year!
