Treating yourself to a rest in the Italian mountains or in Bali is of course the best part about being kind to yourself, but self-care doesn’t always have to be luxurious (and expensive). On the contrary: simplicity is also very effective. Especially if you are used to paying attention to yourself, right at home and all for free.
1. Take a walk
Walking outdoors every day helps you connect with nature and clear your mind completely. Exercise – even if it’s only ten minutes – will improve your mood and boost your energy levels.
2. Take a shower
A half hour shower works wonders for you. You might still be able to read a book, but other than that you can’t do much while soaking in warm water – that’s exactly the point. For more relaxation, add some magnesium, Epsom salt, or lavender oil to the water. Don’t have a bathroom? A warm shower also helps.
3. Treat yourself to a hot drink
With a cup of warm tea or a steamed matcha latte, you deliberately take a short break. Sit down, take a deep breath, Slower and enjoy.
4. Throw your legs in the air
The yoga pose improves blood flow to the upper body and head after a long day of sitting or standing. This pose is relaxing and calming: ideal if you are under stress. Sit close to the wall (facing the wall), “walk” your legs against the wall and lie on your back. If necessary, place a pillow or folded blanket under your lower back. Your body is now forming a kind of L shape. Rest your arms at your side, palms up. Lie in this position for at least 5 minutes, inhaling and exhaling slowly. Do you often worry in bed? Then the broken candle is also very nice to do before going to bed.
5. Call a friend
Do you have primary contact best friends Or relatives via WhatsApp? Calling every now and then is a much better idea. The voice of someone you love can be quite therapeutic. And you both benefit from it: win.
6. Write in a journal
Writing down your thoughts, interests, and experiences is the best way to clear your mind. Writing helps you gain insight and clarity and ensures that you can better let go of feelings and problems. Don’t think too much about it, but let your feelings and thoughts free.
7. Put your phone in Do Not Disturb mode
Give yourself the opportunity to be in the here and now and enjoy the moment, without the constant distraction of the beeping of your phone. Emails, messages and Likes can really wait.
8. Organize your life
Especially when you are busy, it is important that your home is in a quiet environment. It is easier to relax in a tidy house. So regularly set aside fifteen minutes to clean (part of) one room in your house. A worktop, junk drawer, wardrobe or living room, for example.
9. Listen to music
When you listen to music, you automatically disappear into another world. So: Put on your favorite album – or whatever your mood is for the day – and let yourself go. You can dance!
10. Get up half an hour early (or go to bed half an hour earlier)
It doesn’t sound like much, but 30 minutes can make all the difference. Do you feel completely “turned on”? Go to bed half an hour earlier than usual. Your body and mind can use a little extra rest. Do you have a long busy day ahead? Then set the alarm half an hour before. don’t press NapBut take the time to start your day with a quiet breakfast or meditation. You’ll be amazed at how a wakeful morning ritual can affect your productivity.
